Starting off in ballet can be difficult to say the least, especially when taking into consideration all the hard work that will be required of you in this sport or art form, whichever you happen to see it as. There will be plenty of obstacles to overcome and the first major one will be your level of fitness. Even if you think you are in good physical condition already, ballet will test that when you try to stand on the tips of your toes and spin at the same time. You can say you are fit if you are able to perform that move without getting dizzy and hurting yourself.

Even if you think you are in good physical condition already, ballet will test that when you try to stand on the tips of your toes and spin at the same time. You can say you are fit if you are able to perform that move without getting dizzy and hurting yourself. When attempting to keep up a healthy way of living, then you will have to pay attention to your dieting and exercising habits. It is important to ensure a high energy diet so that you will be able to perform on a daily basis should it ever be required. This is because ballet can be very demanding and it is a common occurrence for beginners to want to give up right away, because they get the feeling they are accomplishing nothing. Just always remember that it will take a lot of practice and then some if you want to get anywhere in ballet and that is even true for those who don't have any intentions of doing this competitively or for performances. The right shoes are also an important part of ballet. Although some dancers choose to wear soft shoes, the beginners usually choose the pointe shoes. This is because the pointe shoes keep the foot upright and that will help you to build up strength in your toes. Even though some ballet forms don't require a lot of movements on toes, you will find that being able to do so will help with traditional ballet dance lessons. Regardless of which type of shoes you end up choosing, ballet will help to keep you physically fit and that will leave you feeling good. If your goal is to be competitive then it would be a good idea to show some energy in your dance. Don't just 'be there', really be there. Show people that you enjoy what you are doing and be aggressive in your moves. Your goal is to make the audience believe that you are the only one out there, which is going to be extremely difficult at first. So what should you wear to your dance class? For the typical dance class you would wear the standard leotard and tights. Dancers choose this outfit because form fitting clothing allows for the most amount of mobility. If you need to go to a recital then you would choose something a little more fancy such as a tutu. Normally this all really depends on your dance instructor and what their requirements are. The above mentioned are just some of the basics of ballet, but there are many other things to learn and questions to be asked. Finding a good ballet instructor is not difficult for those living in large metropolitan areas, but for more rural areas it will require some more searching. However, once you have the right instructor then it will be worth it.
