Before we look at what promotional gifts are available for this year's World Cup Finals in South Africa we have to get one thing completely straight. And I apologise to those of you who already are aware of this. You must not under any conditions print the official logo on any business gifts, promotional merchandise or anything else unless you are an official sponsor or you are producing promotional products for a customer of yours who is.

Each time a big event like this or the Olympics comes around there are armies of people organized to produce illegal duplicates of everything associated with the event. But over the past ten years or so sponsors have started to fight back. Many of them have invested in some very costly advertisements warning individuals that they will take them to court should they infringe any aspect of their extremely costly sponsorship deal

In the past millions of products such as printed T-shirts, promotional bottled water and even leather conference folders were confiscated and destroyed in a crackdown on counterfeit trading. It's hardly a revelation when you consider that these firms are paying out literally millions of pounds on sponsorship with a fair part of that being applied to manufacture business items or corporate clothing.

OK so that's the lecture over now let's see just what promotional items are around for this year's World Cup. Well the regular old favourites of printed T-shirts, embroidered polo shirts and promotional baseball caps certainly head the list as far as promotional merchandise is concerned. And doubtlessly there is bound to be millions and millions of the usual suspects like promotional keyrings, branded mugs, cheap plastic pens and so on. Promotional face paints have come into the mix over the past ten years and the addition of stick on skin transfers have made these promotional products even more popular.

The variety of promotional soccer balls has once again grown and the selection of coatings and branding techniques is truly amazing. There is simply next to nothing that cannot be branded onto the face of one of these excellent promotional products. Promotional Lanyards that can take mobile phones or even promotional bottled water are already exceedingly popular because they are relatively inexpensive yet quite visible so organisations like that combination. Promotional Flash drives are also on top of the list for companies with a marginally larger budget. Noisemakers will reign over the less costly end of the market with plastic-type trumpets and promotional whistles being the most commonly purchased products.

Corporate clothing is also going to be very popular, the climate will be good for the finals however some of the earlier rounds are being played at altitude where the temperatures can drop in the evening. Therefore you will probably see quite an interest in light-weight promotional jackets in addition to printed T-shirts and embroidered polo shirts.

Whatever decision you take for your World Cup promotional gifts if possible do it as soon as you can. The earlier your order is in the system the better the chance you have of having it delivered in plenty of time. If you are shipping promotional products out to South Africa as opposed to distributing them in your own local market be aware that the Import Customs red tape could be extremely complicated and products can often be delayed for quite a while. The last thing that you will want is to have your products turning up a few days after the compatition is over.
